Abstract

This limited edition pamphlet was published as part of the European Union's Peace IV Programme initiative Art at the Heart of the Peninsula. The project was designed to raise awareness of the history, migration and diversity of those who have come to and from the Ards Peninsula in County Down, Northern Ireland. A legacy of the programme is the provision of a public art commission comprising six stand-alone ceramic benches accompanied by poems on bronze plaques at six sites on the peninsula. The poems are published in this pamphlet and the subjects addressed by each reflect themes of significance within each village. They aim to benefit community planning, tourism, arts and heritage in shared public spaces.
