Abstract

This photographic image depicts a sombre space devoid of human presence but marked over time by human touch. Its walls, covered with faded pale-pink fabric, take on the character of a skin. The torn fabric at the corner of the room forming a gash-like rupture and the large stain bleeding across the wall at the centre of the image, reflect a sense of the figurative, a body in corporeal breakdown and disintegration. This image speaks of personal loss. This work is one of a series in which utilises a recurring composition that fixes our attention on the corner of the room, so that the composition divides the picture plane into 3 triangular sections, that form the geometry of an end point.
