Abstract
This chapter identifies the importance of social media and mobile apps to events, including developing and harnessing aspects such as QR code technology, augmented reality, gamification and wi-fi connectivity. Further, how such digital media applications can be used to market and promote events is analysed. The chapter also illustrates how such digital media applications can provide an alternative to attending the event.
