A Multi-modal Virtual Coach for Behavior Change

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) based voice virtualassistants are currently attracting a great deal of attention.Their emergence paves the way for new multi-modal naturalinterfaces that can be utilized for many purposes within smartenvironments, including facilitating behavior change. This workpresents a multi-modal pervasive virtual coach, complementingtext-based interaction via a mobile app with voice basedinteraction through a virtual assistant, with the ultimate goalof delivering behavior change intervention to promote physicalactivity among older adults within smart environments.
