Abstract
Over the past decade the Department of Education has been taking decisive steps to 'encourage and facilitate' the growth of the Irish-medium education sector. The flourishing Irish-medium youth sector is a complimentary but much-neglected and under-reported service, with a vital function in building not just Irish-medium schools, but Irish-medium social & learning spaces. This paper proposes a model of Irish-medium youth work identifying the unique features of this work; with language and identity as ineliminable components of the practice.
