Abstract

A great deal of research has been conducted in the area of musical analysis. However, very little has been done with respect to utilising the MPEG-7 metadata standard to describe the structural content of music at a fine level of granularity. The aim of this paper is to provide an overview of the field of structural musical analysis and to present an architecture for the AMUSED system for automated structural analysis and description using the MPEG-7 standard.
