Abstract

The fire of the structure threatens the life of the resident because of high temperature and toxic gas occurrence, and it's damage becomes enormous when the structure reaches to the limit state of load capability with collapse. From 1970's, in Europe, it continued the experimental and analytical research which improves the fire resistance of structures, so it has embodied the present design code. Recently the domestic design method of fire protection in structural steel, KS F 2848, introduced the section factor which is a fundamental concept of performance based design, but it is difficult to actual application in practical activity for inadequacy of base research and technique. With analysis the concept and the system of design process of European code which guides a fire research, this paper investigate the direction of hereafter domestic structural fireproof design.
