Title: Valuing community pharmacy services in Northern Ireland – a follow on study
Background: Following the success of the “MeDeSin NI Study†funded by CW Young in 2021, this study has opened many avenues for which community pharmacy currently provides pharmaceutical care to patients in person, and remotely. The MeDeSin NI study identified key information on how delivery services in community pharmacy in Northern Ireland were developing, following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, delivery services are valued by patients and the profession however, there are a number of key concerns relating to provision of care and remuneration of such services.
Aim: We aim to explore the provision of wrap around pharmaceutical care in the community following the outcomes of the MeDeSin NI study 2021. We will develop educational frameworks for practice sharing and explore telehealth and support services in community pharmacy.
Methods: Mixed methods study involving qualitative and quantitative capture.
Estimated duration: We recognise that this funding is available for a three-year period, however, to capitalise on momentum gained from the MeDeSin NI study, we are seeking funding to provide interim support whilst PhD funding is sought from other sources, such as Pharmacy Research UK.
