The World of Luxe. 'Christmas Lights Switch On' PaR, Parades, Landscape and Ritual Performances

I will start an in-depth exploration of the Irish Landscape Theatre and Processional Landscape company Luxe, by performing and conducting field research for the series of street theatre, performances and parades events named ‘Christmas Lights Switch’ which will take place in Dundalk, Belfast (18-19 November) and Strabane and Derry (26-27 November). This PaR aims at contributing to set up and analysing effectiveness of Luxe's techniques of performing life with mechanical supports for very large street theatre audiences in a variety of contexts for Irish local communities. The research findings will be integrated with field work, interviews with members of the company and attendance to future events that Luxe will produce in 2023/24, culminating in an academic article (to be published in a major journal of the field, tbc) and collaboration for the first International Ritual Arts Symposium that will take place at Magee campus of Ulster University in June 2024.
