Project Details
Description
SMART-COLLAB addresses the challenge of human-AI collaboration in advanced manufacturing by developing innovative approaches to Human-Robot Collaboration leveraging digital twin technologies. The
project will create AI-driven systems enabling seamless human-machine teamwork in manufacturing environments, focusing on product configuration, customisation, and process optimisation. By integrating human expertise with robotic precision through advanced digital twin frameworks, SMART-COLLAB will facilitate knowledge sharing between senior professionals and newer employees, enhance worker safety and well-being, and support continuous workforce up-skilling. The project will develop standardised modules for
Human-Digital Twin interactions and intuitive natural interface models, enabling workers to control complexity in cognitive cooperating production systems. SMART-COLLAB directly supports the Industry 5.0 vision of human-centric manufacturing whilst enhancing competitiveness and sustainability. The consortium brings
together leading robotics research centres, manufacturing technology transfer facilities, and industrial partners ensuring practical implementation across European manufacturing sectors.
