SERVICE OUTLINE
• To undertake a rapid review of the perceived barriers and facilitators for young people reporting technology-assisted child sexual abuse: learning for Northern Ireland. Including:
o A synthesis of available international evidence* on the perceived barriers and facilitators to young people reporting (speaking out/telling someone/ self-reporting) technology-assisted child sexual abuse, relevant to NI
o Case study examination of the Alexander McCartney case
o Summary of the policy and legislative context in NI
o Analysis of the nature and scale of police recorded technology-assisted child sexual abuse and gaps, relevant to NI
o Actionable areas to be addressed and recommendations for policy, practice and research, relevant to NI.
*concerns children and young people (0-18 years and up to 25 years for vulnerable groups) including section 75 categories as defined in NI Act 1998
* research conducted since 2015
• To produce a draft report, and final report which may be published.
• To present the findings at a report launch, and separately to brief the SBNI and partners.
