NI ROADWISE

NI ROADWISE is an asset-led climate impact assessment workflow for drainage and pavement assets. It uses Northern Ireland as a demonstrator to show how gully inventories, CCTV/ITS observations, weather indicators, preliminary corridor mapping and targeted drone validation can be fused into practical risk indicators, hotspot maps and maintenance/adaptation priorities transferable to National Highways. NI ROADWISE directly addresses Topic 1 by developing and applying a climate impact assessment approach for drainage and pavement road assets. The work will complement and build upon National Highways’ ARP4 climate adaptation programme for the Strategic Road Network by translating climate risk priorities into an applied assessment workflow for drainage and pavement assets. It will support vulnerable drainage location identification, severe-weather assessment of drainage assets, linked pavement impact analysis, post-storm inspection prioritisation, and adaptation planning for road asset managers
