Project Details
Description
Amvic Ireland Ltd manufactor ICF is manufactured with Expanded Polystyrene and considered combustible. Under the new regulations this limit builds to 15m to the highest floor externally, which is typically 5 storeys. However, for compartment/separation walls internally the regulations now limit combustible materials to 11m, not in line with the external walls.
To satisfy the internally regulation some options are proposed:
1-EPS to be removed above 11m from their faces to expose the concrete core to satisfy fire consultants and their opinion on the Part B regulations.
2-Built up a robust system to bring it with the Part B regulations.
The Fire Safety Engineering Research Technology (FireSERT) is to look at this particular challenge by using an advanced Finite Element Analysis and to investigate the performance of the internal wall compartmentation using different lining materials constructed as a system in the Amvic Ireland Ltd with the aim to satisfy the TGD Part B.
