Project Details

Description

This proposed project builds on a programme of implementation research to develop and test a technology based solution to facilitate capture of patient experience data through the implementation of 8 person-centred KPIs, with the aim of improving person-centred practice. This has resulted in development of a the iMPAKT (Implementing and Measuring Person-centredness using an APP for Knowledge Transfer) App, a prototype which enabled the gathering of different data sources into one platform, using four different measurement tools. The prototype iMPAKT app made information more accessible, captured it in real-time and enabled it to be used more easily to improve the experience of care. Wider exposure of the work has resulted in many expressions of interest in accessing the iMPAKT APP, nationally and internationally. This has led to the development of a Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Collaborative comprising two chief nurses from Australia and the Chief Nurse from Northern Ireland, who clearly see the benefit of this innovation for the profession, and are committed to supporting the further development of this work. This application is seeking matched funding from the HSC RandD for the following: to contribute a portion of funding for App development, which would be the funding priority; and to recruit a research associate who will work closely with healthcare organisations in Northern Ireland and Australia to identify test sites to assess the efficacy of the App at different stages of development.
