Project: Research

Project Details

Description

As part of our ongoing strategy to extend our research environment and impact I am partnering with the poet Gerald Dawe and the Burns Library Boston to create the Gerald Dawe Cultural Belongings Project. This will include an online exhibition, a touring exhibition, a publication series, a BBC documentary with the prestigious DoubleBand production company and a series of workshops aimed at schools and the public in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland, England, the USA and potentially Poland and Japan. As such, this project will form a major strand of the research and impact strategy of the unit for the next Ref. External funding for the project has been secured through a variety of means including Futurescreens for the online exhibition, Covid Relief for the project website, Trinity College Alumni Association for a publication subvention and from consultancy monies from my work for external bodies. Impact will be generated in the following ways: 1. Extending partnership with several broadcasters in coproduction of a range of television programming, immersive VR digital content, and multimedia website and podcast series. 2. Production of new cultural artefacts in partnership with Boston College, Trinity College Dublin, NU Galway and Ulster University. 3. Development of creative writing in schools and public in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and United States of America in the venues where exhibition launches are held. 4. Driving up standards with educators to generate and embed innovative learning materials for Northern Irish literature, history, language, heritage and culture. 5. Enhanced cultural understanding of issues regarding Northern Irish identity and experience leading to academic success in schools.
