Project Details
Description
We know that 1/5th of older adults in NI are unpaid carers. Caregivers of people with long-term illness or disability provide a crucial but largely invisible role in our society. Without the work of caregivers, the cost to the economy would be vast, but this remains largely invisible at gov-ernment and service provider level. Caregivers experience considerable social isolation and are vulnerable to poor physical and mental health. Further the Covid-19 pandemic highlighted the crucial role of digital technology in keeping people connected and obtaining health and per-sonal services – changes that are here to stay.
