The research aligns with the DE Enhanced Support Model for the support of pupils with special educational needs in schools in Northern Ireland. It focuses on the recognised need to invest in the Classroom Assistant (CA) workforce, particularly the design of a future model for CA employment including professionalising the role and creating a clear career progression pathway.
