Disability Humanities in Northern Ireland

This project consolidates and showcases humanities-focused disability researchers across AHSS. Their approaches view disability as a cultural, historical, and social construct, interrogate how disability is represented, emphasise human experience, investigate social structures that maintain negative perceptions, and challenge stigma through social justice lenses. The project adopts a ‘past and present’ approach to illustrate the importance of understanding disability history and its ongoing implications for contemporary twenty-first-century Northern Irish life.
