Project Details
Description
The project will be aimed at improving antimicrobial use as well as building the capacity of AMS staff especially pharmacists in infection management and AMS. The overall outcome of the project is to have a functional AMS programme running and meeting target indicators set by the team on antimicrobial use and behaviour of staff. The project will use both persuasive and restrictive approaches to stewardship as well as increasing surveillance, monitoring and evaluation of antimicrobial resistance and use. There is high enthusiasm among the AMS committee members of the university hospital as well as the Director of the hospital to implement this programme. The main activities of the project will be education and training of AMS and hospital staff, surveillance on antimicrobial stewardship, resistance and consumption through various output changes that will lead to the overall expected outcome of the project.
