Project Details
Description
Physical activity levels are often lower in socio-economically deprived areas compared to affluent ones. Barriers such as limited access to recreational facilities and financial constraints hinder regular physical activity. This study evaluates Gaelic games participation programmes (Go Games, Cúl Camps, Super Games) for children and youth in disadvantaged areas, targeting those who have stopped participating. Data collection involves surveys to gather quantitative data on non-participation reasons. In-depth interviews/focus groups with former participants, their coaches, and other club officials will provide qualitative insights. The nine-month study has three phases:
1.Desk research to identify target areas.
2.Participant recruitment, survey distribution, and interviews/focus groups.
3.Data analysis and report writing.
Post-study, findings will be disseminated, and community engagement will be prioritised.
