Beneath the Surface NI Baseline Survey

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The PI has been approached by C2K and Capita to conduct a baseline survey into the current usage levels of educational technologies by teachers across Northern Ireland. This baseline study coincides with the roll out of a £19 million investment in Microsoft Surface devices for all teachers in Northern Ireland. in parallel to the roll out of these devices the Department of Education have ringfenced a sum of money to invest in teacher professional learning to support the use of these new devices. C2K will be providing these professional learning sessions in late August 2022 and teachers who enrol for these sessions will be provided with an opportunity to complete the surveys before and after attending these events. The administration of the research instrument will be handled by C2K (EA) and they will be the data managers for this project. The primary aim of this study is to identify a baseline of current teacher use, and attitudes towards, educational technology in Northern Ireland; the objective is to gather the views of teachers on the following issues in relation to the use of ICT: •Engagement with Educational Technology Networks •Perception of Educational Technology •Teacher and pupil use of educational technologies •Teacher Professional Learning
