Project Details
Description
The proposed fellowship directly relates to priority number six: ‘what are the best ways to provide support to children (e.g. psychological and social support) when someone important to them is dying, or has died?’, as the educational intervention will directly provide health and social care professionals with the skills and knowledge on how best to support families when an adult with significant caregiving responsibilities for dependent children is at end of life. The international fellowship will also glean into insights and learning to practices of how this aspect of care is delivered in Denmark, which is a mandatory aspect of practice embedded into policy. Learning from the fellowship could help inform and advise how the same could be integrated to policies across the island of Ireland.
Additionally, the fellowship will address the following priorities:
Number 2: ‘How can communication and care co-ordination be improved across the teams of health and social care professionals caring for people with any serious life-limiting illness’, given its emphasis to culturally adapt and translate an evidence-based and theory-driven communication framework to Danish.
