To involve people with dementia and their carers in the development of the interactive web-based dementia guidelines for WHSCT. To ensure the guidelines are appropriately patient centred.
The most recent version of the dementia guidelines was multi-professional, multi-site and both thorough and detailed but after widespread consultation was deemed to be too long (50 pages). To make the guidelines more accessible we are working with experts in computing and interactive design to produce an ICT version that can be accessed via the web and a phone app. A prototype for web based dementia guidelines was developed and presented at the Service Improvement Project Board Older Person Mental Health November 2018.

Members of the Service Improvement Project Board Older People Mental Health requested that we have short videos involving people with dementia and carers to be included in the guidelines. We already have a willing volunteer who has said she would be delighted to take part. This application for non-recurrent funding would enable the team to re-reimburse any out of pocket expenses and provide an honorarium in recognition for her input. We will seek input from four other lay people. We propose to make five videos, each of about two minute’s duration.
