Biography
Ying Gao is a Lecturer in finance in the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics at Ulster University. She obtained MSc in Finance from Queen’s University Belfast. She has ten years of experience in further and higher education and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Ying specialises teaching in Statistics, Financial Mathematics and Econometrics. Partnering with Pearson Publishing, she has designed a Financial Econometric Modelling module for an online Master’s level course at Ulster University. The design of teaching involves creative utilisation of active and interactive learning pedagogy.
Ying has extensive experience of teaching international students and is dedicated to continuously developing interactive teaching strategies. Ying has initiated a structural change on curricula of an International Year One programme which promoted attractiveness of the course.
Ying’s research interests are capital structure, financial markets and education. She is keen to make research contribution and impact in academia in the hope of advancing understanding and perception about financial markets of the wider society. In respect of research into education, Ying is dedicated herself to creating, disseminating and enhancing academic practice.
