Biography
Ursula Quinn is a Senior Lecturer in hospitality management and joined the Department of Hospitality and Tourism Management in 1990. She is a graduate of Ulster University having achieved a HND in Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management in 1986, followed by a BA(Hons) in Hotel and Tourism Management in 1988.Ursula also holds an MPhil in Business and Management from the University and the focus of her research was on small firms in the Hospitality Industry and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.She has worked in food and beverage management in Northern Ireland and is a recipient prestigious Guinness Award. She has also worked in hotel management in privately owned hotels in Northern Ireland and as an international intern in the United States.As well as working in food and beverage management Ursula has also worked in Rooms Division and Guest Services.Her research interests are in the areas of small business and entrepreneurship as well as pedagogical research. Ursula has taught a range of hospitality management subjects including strategic management, marketing and innovative food. She has undertaken several key roles in the Department including Placement Tutor, Course Director for the Leisure, Events and Cultural Management Degree and more recently in establishing and managing international collaborative links with a Hotel School in Switzerland.Ursula also has extensive experience in setting up and managing collaborative links with the Further Education sector in Northern Ireland at Intermediate Level (Foundation Degree). She has held external examiner posts with Blackpool and Flyde College, the University of the West of Scotland and Bournemouth University. She has also taken part as a panel member in course approval/ revalidation events including international programmes in Hong Kong and in India with the Wolverhampton University.
