Ursula commenced at Ulster University in 2003 and is a critical care nurse. Ursula is a Senior Lecturer and Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and is the Faculty Partnership Manager for the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences. She graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing Studies (Hons) in 2000 from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI). She completed her MSc in Nursing (distinction) in 2002 (RCSI). In 2006, Ursula completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Nurses and Midwives (distinction) at Ulster University and has a recordable qualification of Lecturer/Practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Since registering as a nurse (1994), Ursula has worked in critical care (coronary care), medical nursing and care of older people. Ursula has considerable experience of teaching life support courses (Basic, Intermediate and Advanced). Ursula is a quality assurance registrant visitor (NMC).
Ursula is an experienced and accomplished academic having held significant leadership roles within the School of Nursing, Course Director for Pre-registration nursing (2011-2014). Currently Course Director for the innovative interprofessional programme the Post Graduate Certificate in Education for Healthcare Professionals. Ursula is also Faculty Partnership Manager within the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences, with the responsibility of overseeing collaborative and partnership provision across several schools. Ursula held the role of Academic Lead for Education (2015-2022), with responsibility for chairing the School Learning and Teaching Committee, providing strategic vision and leadership. She had a significant role in leading, supporting, and guiding colleagues and course teams in preparation for course revalidations and course amendments and in particular during the pandemic. Chairing of internal Preliminary Board of Examiners within the school, across undergraduate and postgraduate provision was included in her responsibilities.

Ursula has commenced her PhD in September 2023 and will be researching
‘Development of an intervention to support and enhance delegation skills among new graduate nurses (NGNs) in the acute clinical setting.' |
