Towfeeq Fairooz joined as a Ph.D. Researcher in the School of Engineering at Ulster University in the year 2020, under the supervision of Professor James McLaughlin. In 2007, he earned a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Boras in Sweden. Prior to beginning doctoral studies, he worked as a lecturer and researcher from year 2010–2018 at Taif University, Saudi Arabia, and one of his key research projects was the use of machine learning algorithms to predict sudden cardiac arrest. His doctoral research focusses on the crucial role of evaluating deep learning in bio-sensing colour-changing elements. This study is aimed at making a significant contribution to the research in the field of bio-sensing colour changing devices and the biomarkers that are used in these biosensor devices. In June of 2022, he became an Associate Fellow of Higher Education Academy (AFHEA) in the United Kingdom. 

His main research interests are in artificial intelligence applied to data from the healthcare sector or other fields that deal with predictive analytics and information classification, the internet of things, and embedded system design, among other things. Programming skills knowledge include C-programming and the languages MATLAB and Python.
