Biography
Dr Thomas Dooher is a Research Associate working as part of an EU Marie Sklodowska-Curie award in collaboration with several universities and companies throughout Europe in the field of renewable energy. Thomas’s research activities are directed toward incorporating carbon fibre into wind and tidal turbine blades. Prior to being appointed to his current position, Thomas worked in a variety of post-doctoral roles within the university including working with an industrial partner (AVX Ltd) to help refine the metallic inks used to produce capacitors and creating novel stitching yarns to improve the delamination performance of fibre reinforced polymer composites.Thomas has a degree in Physics with materials science (2002) and a Masters in opto-electronics with optical information processing (2003) from Queen’s University Belfast and a PhD in carbon nanotube/high temperature polymer composites from Ulster University (2011).
