I have graduated with a Bachelor in Linguistics from Leiden University in 2014. In my BA, I have gained the specialisation Language and Cognition, with a minor in Historical Linguistics. I then continued my studies at Leiden University in the Linguistics Research Master programme and graduated cum laude in 2016. During my master's, I have expanded on my knowledge of syntactic theory, language acquisition, psycho- and neurolinguistics. In the last year of my masters’ programme, through by my deepened experience with theoretical syntax and language acquisition, I have gained a strong motivation to unite my main areas of interest in an interdisciplinary project. This plan has materialised with the support of a doctoral VCRS Scholarship in the School of Communication and Media, at Ulster University. In my current project, I investigate children's syntactic development from an experimental perspective under the supervision of Dr. Juliana Gerard (PI), Prof. Raffaella Folli and Dr. Christina Sevdali. In addition to my current research domains, I am also fascinated by the domains of syntactic variation, bilingual language acquisition, neurolinguistics, second language learning and teaching.
My doctoral project investigates linguistic processing in young Russian and German monolinguals, with the help from our collaborators at the Saint Petersburg State University and the University of Potsdam. The study focuses in particular on the cause of children’s difficulty with relying on case morphology for comprehending non-canonical word orders. Part of the project output has been disseminated among others at the LAGB Meeting, GALA and BUCLD.
