Research Interests

Shane is a Chartered Physiotherapist with a special interest in acute and chronic pain behaviours in musculoskeletal conditions. Understanding the bidirectional influence of emotional and mental wellbeing on our physical health can help to better manage patients with chronic pain conditions.

Teaching Interests

Shane teaches musculoskeletal assessment and management to second year students on the BSc Physiotherapy degree. He assists on a range of UG modules including rehabilitation of conditions in first year and complex conditions in third year, as well as supervising final year UG dissertation projects.

He is module coordinator for two PG modules, Long term conditions and Global healthcare perspectives, and supervises on final year MSc research projects.
