Biography

Dr Selim Bozkurt is a Lecturer in the School of Engineering at Ulster University. Before joining Ulster University,  he worked at the Institute of Cardiovascular Science of University College London, and the Craniofacial Unit of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children as a post-doctoral research associate. Prior to this, he worked as a researcher at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of University College London. Dr Selim Bozkurt obtained his PhD degree in Biomedical Engineering from the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands where he also worked as a research assistant. Prior to that, he worked as a research assistant at the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Turkey where he also received his master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Selim Bozkurt received his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Eskisehir Osmangazi University in Eskisehir, Turkey.

Selim Bozkurt has been serving as an associate editor in Physical and Engineering Sciences in Medicine Journal since April 2020. He was a member of the technical program committee at the International Conference on Biomedical Engineering and Biotechnology between 2018 and 2021. He has presented his research as invited speaker at different conferences and events. He has reviewed journal articles and grant proposals for major academic publishers and funding bodies.

Selim Bozkurt’s research interests include design, analysis and test of implantable medical devices, cardiovascular biomechanics, modelling and simulation of physiological systems to evaluate clinical scenarios, computational modelling of skull correction in craniosynostosis.
