Santosh has a multidisciplinary background (Public Health, Nutrition, Epidemiology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Hygiene and Sanitation, Sustainable Development, Food Security, Exposure Assessment and Health Improvement) enabling his involvement across a wide range of social, environmental and lifestyle related population health research. He has expertise in a range of research settings, both in high and low-income countries. His research interest seek to understand how best to develop and deliver community based interventions, using transdisciplinary approach, to address environmental, lifestyle and social aspects of population health in low and middle-income countries.

Santosh graduated from Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu Nepal with an MSc in Environmental Science with distinction. He then completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development from the Maastricht School of Management, the Netherlands under the Nuffic Fellowship. Santosh also earned a Master of Public Health Research (MPH) and a Doctorate (PhD) in Public Health from the University of Aberdeen in 2017, investigating the multisector approach to improve food security, nutrition, the household environment and health in low and middle-income countries.

Santosh joined NICHE, Ulster University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate on the SAFEWATER project in April 2018. His role in this project is to design and implement the Health Impact Trials to assess the health impacts of implementing SAFEWATER interventions (developed within this project) into households in rural communities in Mexico and Colombia.  Prior to joining NICHE, Santosh was working as a Research Fellow at the Epidemiology Group, University of Aberdeen and a Health Improvement Officer-Neighbourhoods at the Aberdeen City Health and Social Care Partnership, Public Healtha and Wellbeing Team, NHS Grampian in Scotland.  

Santosh has presented his research findings at a wide range of national and internation scientific conferences, organised multidisciplinary workshops and community engagement activities.
