I studied geology at Cork (BSc 1993), geophysics at Durham (MSc 1994) and marine geophysics at Southampton (PhD 1997) before joining Ulster in 1998. 

I am a marine geoscientist, interested in applications of ocean mapping methods and computational modelling. I use acoustic imaging to detect, quantify and understand change in anthropogenic, geoarchaeological, geomorphological and biophysical environments. A better understanding of these processes allows us to inform policy makers and develop mitigation strategies to minimise loss in the face of increasing natural and human forcing.
