Personal profile
Biography
Rebecca Taylor is a PhD researcher at Ulster University, supported by the NINE DTP ESRC scholarship. She recently completed her Master of Research (MRes) with Ulster University and earned a first-class honours degree. Previously, she earned a first-class honours degree in Psychology and a distinction in Professional Practice. Living with right hemiplegia cerebral palsy herself, Rebecca has experienced first-hand how pain in adults with cerebral palsy is often overlooked and inadequately addressed within the healthcare system. This lack of acknowledgement and care sparked her curiosity and passion for research, leading her to pursue a PhD focused on developing a holistic tool to measure the impact of pain in adults with cerebral palsy across their lifespan. By collaborating with disability organisations and individuals with lived experience, she is committed to conducting research that makes a difference and promotes more inclusive approaches to recognising pain—both physical and mental—within this population.
