Phd Researcher Profile

Raymond is a PhD Researcher working on the Collaborative Action for Natura Network (CANN) project. With a focus on lake remediation in the Magheraveely/Kilroosky border region of N.Ireland and Ireland, Raymond will be identifying sources of nutrient enrichment and attempting to provide mitigation options with the aim of promoting favourable habitat status for European priority species of benthic charaophytes and white-clawed crayfish.

Raymond's work role within project involves collection of field data (limnology, hydrology, ecology). He will be conducting a crayfish population assement and monitoring for crayfish plague. Laboratory analysis of physical, biological and chemical properties of water, sediments and precipitates. Data analysis and report writing. Liaison with landowners for site access, stakeholder engagement through participation in meetings and presentation of research results.

Previous professional experience includes performing river habitat surveys and fish population surveys for the Water Framework Directive during my time as an assistant scientific officer within AFBI's Fisheries and Aquatic Ecosystems Branch.
