Research activity per year
As a multimedia designer in Canada for eight years, Philip worked for some of the world’s best-known consumer brands in packaging design, illustration, and advertising collateral for in-store, interactive multimedia, and TV advertising. Working with many large international corporate clients across Canada and America, such as Armtec, Labatt’s, Cook’s, Sternson Limited, and SC Johnson.
Philip's leadership in multimedia design and development at the Center for Digital Learning at Ulster University was marked by numerous accolades and recognition. His innovative approach to designing educational content and courses, incorporating design thinking, 2D and 3D animation, and interactive multimedia for higher education, earned him the international 2018 MEDEA overall Award for User-Generated educational content. His commitment to collaborative excellence was also acknowledged with the 2018 Distinguished Education Excellence Award. His involvement in creating multiple award-winning digital multimedia learning initiatives at Ulster further underscores his expertise and dedication.
Currently employed as Lecturer in Graphic Design (0.5 FTE), Belfast School of Art. And as a Research Associate in Immersive Multimedia (0.5 FTE), the Future Island-Island GTE.
Research:
A PhD researcher at Ulster University, researching innovative design approaches to 6DoF storytelling in immersive VR environments and UX for AR/VR/MR.
