Biography

Nikki has completed education to masters level in Architecture at The University of Edinburgh, and Heritage Science, at Queen's University, Belfast and has over 10 years professional experience in the heritage sector, working with various organisations at senior leadership level to promote and protect the architectural and cultural heritage of Northern Ireland and beyond.

Nikki was the Chief Executive of Ulster Architectural Heritage from 2014 to 2021, where she led the strategic direction, fundraising, advocacy, key projects, and day to day management of the organisation. Nikki was Senior National Consultant - Heritage & Climate with National Trust from 2023-24, working to develop approaches to climate adaption projects, and guidance, for heritage sites in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Publications include:

Nikki is an Expert Advisor to the Ministerial Advisory Group for Architecture & the Built Environment, and a committee member of the National Lottery Heritage Fund Northern Ireland. Nikki is a Trustee of the Grand Opera House Belfast. 

Since 2019, Nikki has been a PhD Researcher in the School of Architecture and the Built Environment, focusing research on the topic of 'Built Heritage at Risk in Northern Ireland'. Research interests include the value of historic buildings, the role they play in regeneration, and how built heritage may be better understood, conserved and protected in Northern Ireland, and beyond.
