Research Interests

As part of my PhD I looked at the role of cell signalling and networks in response to diesel exhaust and infections. I have published my work in peer reviewed journals.

My current interest is in interstitial lung disease (ILD),idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF).

I am principal investigator on a number of clinical research trials (>40 over 10 years) in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and was the UK Chief Investigator of a major clinical trial on progressive ILDs and a trial in IPF. I am collaborator on a number of grants exceeding £5 million and have co-authored over 100 peer reviewed articles in 10 years. I was also co-applicant for a British Lung foundation grant for a study in Sarcoidosis.

I established a Respiratory Biobank for ILD Patients in Manchester NHS Trust.

I have Collaborated with Researchers at University of Manchester and Queens University Belfast in ILD and grant applications.

I have presented >50 abstracts at all Major Conferences in last 10 years and have published peer reviewed papers in my area of expertise
