Biography

Mobashir Fatimah is an optometrist and PhD researcher in the Optometry and Vision Science department at Ulster University, Coleraine.

Mobashir completed a Bachelor in Optometry from NSHM College of Management and Technology, Kolkata. During the clinical internship at LV Prasad Eye Hospital, recognised as one of the premier eye hospitals in India, Mobashir gained invaluable hands-on experience in eye care practices.

Pursuing further specialisation, Mobashir obtained a Master's in Optometry from the prestigious Elite School of Optometry, the pioneer of bachelor of optometry education in India. This advanced degree was marked by significant research on the quality of life in children wearing specialised myopia control lenses, a study that earned Mobashir the prestigious Dr E Vaithilingan Memorial Scientific Award for best oral presentation, the Smt. Alamelu Prabhakaran Memorial Prize, and the Sri R. Sivaraman Memorial Endowment Prize for the Best Research Award in Master of Optometry.

Currently, Mobashir is focused on a PhD at Ulster University, supported by the Vice Chancellor's PhD Research Scholarship (VCRS). The research work is centred on the management of myopia in adults, aiming to develop innovative strategies to improve vision care and outcomes for adults suffering from progressive myopia.
