Personal profile

Biography

I am a Professor in Strategic Management and Sustainable Development with over 30 years of business development and consultancy experience. I previously managed my own small business before becoming a management development officer and head of the Graduate Enterprise Programme at Ulster University.  I have extensive business consultancy experience from working in the UK, Ireland, mainland Europe and USA. My particular research interests include transdisciplinary research, business model innovation and entrepreneurship. During the last ten years I have been a co-investigator and work package leader on three large Research Council funded projects: the EPSRC funded Multidisciplinary Assessment of Technology Centre for Healthcare (MATCH); the GCRF funded SAFEWATER project; and the GCRF funded Global Research Translation project. In addition, I have participated in several smaller EU/UK-funded research projects. At Ulster I am currently Co-I and work package leader in SAFEWATER (£4.8M, 2017-2021), and Co-I in the GCRF Global Research Translation Award (£837k, 2019-2021) - Devices Translation and Implementation. I have published 30 peer-reviewed papers and I am a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
