Biography
Dr Mary McCann is Associate Dean (Partnerships and Student Recruitment) in the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences. She holds a PhD, Masters of Research and BSc from Ulster University.
Mary is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and as Senior Lecturer and Course Director, has led on curriculum development, teaching and assessment across the suite of MSc and BSc Nutrition and Dietetics programmes at Ulster.
Mary is a Registered Nutritionist (RNutr) and her high impact research at NICHE is in the area of maternal nutrition with a focus on maternal overweight and obesity, nutrient requirements in pregnancy, specifically iron and vitamin D requirements. Her research also examines gestational weight gain and body composition during pregnancy, the impact of food portion size on food and energy intake and the influence of nutrition labelling on food intake and behaviour.
