Biography

Mark Pote graduated from University College Cork with a first-class honours BA in Celtic Civilisation and History in 2020. In the following year he was awarded a first-class honours MA in Early and Medieval Irish from University College Cork.

His principal research interests include Medieval Irish language, history, kingship, heroic sagas, origin legends, and genealogies.

In 2019 he was awarded the Maire Herbert prize for Celtic Civilisation by University College Cork. In 2021 he was awarded third place in the National University of Ireland’s Dr H.H Stewart Literary Scholarship in Latin.

He is a recipient of Ulster University’s Vice-Chancellor’s Research Scholarship and is currently working towards his PhD. His thesis will focus on genealogical and related texts concerning the Uí Chennselaig of Leinster.
