Biography
Lynsey is the Manager of the Agri-Food Business Development Centre at Ulster University Business School. Her role seeks to engage with local and international food businesses in research and innovation as well as develop teaching programmes to support the needs of the agri-food industry. Prior to this role Lynsey taught on the BSc Consumer Management and Food Innovation degree. She was responsible for the following modules: Consumer Marketing Management, Consumer Behaviour, Food and the media, Product Development and Food retailing.
In 2009 Lynsey completed her PhD on food marketing from Ulster University then took up a position as a Lecturer in Business Strategy. In 2010, she held a position as a Research Fellow within the Institute for Food Security at Queens University Belfast where she continues to collaborate with Professor Moira Dean on funded research.
Her research portfolio covers a range of projects in the area of food marketing and consumer food choice. Lynsey was the Principal Investigator of the recent Food Standards Agency investigation into the healthfulness of food retail promotions in Northern Ireland and is part of the research team for a comparable study in the Republic of Ireland funded by safefood. She was also a co-investigator (in collaboration with Queens University Belfast) on the safefood funded study researching cooking skills on the island of Ireland.
Her research skills include: Survey design, qualitative NVivo analysis, focus groups, interviews and observation studies.
Lynsey currently supervises six PhD students all completing projects in the area of food marketing, food poverty and product development.
Lynsey is a member of the Business and Management Research Institute (BMRI) and is the Impact Co-ordinator for the BMRI. She is a member of Belfast Food Network’s Food Poverty steering group and is a volunteer for the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
