Lawboratory Project - where law meets tech meets art

An initiative of the Legal Innovation Centre, Lawboratory Project explores a participatory approach to public legal education. The aim is to create experimental and participatory interactions between the public and cutting-edge legal and legal-tech research through creative practice. These participatory encounters will generate greater impact of our research, innovate research methodologies and create new forms of research outputs.

Litigants in Person in Northern Ireland

The Ligitants in Person in Northern Ireland project started in April 2016 as a human rights analysis of fair trial rights of personal litigants. It identified the ways in which personal litigants are blocked from participating fully in their legal processes, and in the second phase of the project, we addressed attitudinal and practical barriers through human-centred design and Q-methodology to derive information resources and a 10-point description of what to look out for to ensure effective participation in proceedings. This work was funded by The Nuffield Foundation.
