Personal profile

Biography

I am a medically qualified doctor and practiced clinically before undertaking a master’s in health Promotion and Population Health. My PhD explored the validity and application of self-monitoring of blood glucose in diabetes. My early postdoctoral work used EUROmediCAT, a population based reproductive pharmacovigilance system to evaluate medication safety in pregnancy. In my role in the Administrative Data Research Centre Northern Ireland (NI) I evaluated the validity of administrative health datasets in NI, available through the Honest Broker Service, as sources of information relating to maternity and birth outcomes. In EUROlinkCAT I worked with colleagues across Europe to use linked administrative health data to evaluate morbidity in children with and without congenital anomalies. In my current role in ConcePTION, I work with colleagues across Europe to use linked administrative health data to evaluate the risk of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes following SSRI exposure in pregnancy. In am the NI Co-investigator in MatCHNet a network which aims to lay the groundwork to develop research programmes to evaluate the impact of national policies on adverse child health outcomes. I have experience in pharmacoepidemiology, congenital anomaly epidemiology, data linkage and statistical methodology.
