Personal profile

Biography

I am an independent visual art curator and PhD researcher with a specialism in artist and organisational development. I am interested in infrastructure; working across network and production contexts, and formal and informal learning environments for practitioners. Resourcing, nurturing and profiling others’ practices has been a longstanding facet of my work. I also develop independent projects, such as initiating the Expanded Studio Project, co-founding the Angelica network, and establishing Avenue – an artists’ B&B.

I have held numerous strategic, programming and fundraising roles for galleries, initiatives and individuals around the UK and Ireland, including, for example, Ikon Gallery, Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Firstsite, London Sculpture Workshop, Jerwood Arts, PLACE, University of Atypical, PS2 and Visual Artists NI/Ireland. My writing has been commissioned by Circa, Visual Artists News Sheet and Disability Arts Online, and featured in peer-reviewed journals. I am the 2020 Editor of Intersections, Ulster University’s academic journal.

My PhD research focuses on the precarity of artists’ studios and workspaces in Belfast; labour and practice, collaborative and co-operative models, and permanence and peripateticism. My ambition is to continue my research at Post-Doc level, developing impactful sectoral collaborations for visual artists and visual art organisations.
