Biography

Jaimie is a Lecturer in Sociology and has a joint appointment in the School of Applied Social and Policy Science and the School of Medicine. 

Teaching Interests

Jaimie is module coordinator for the modules Introduction to Sociology and Sociology of Health and Illness on the undergraduate Sociology programme at Magee (starting Sept 2025). 
She is also the Sociology Lead for the graduate entry MBBS programme in the School of Medicine. Jaimie is Patient Public Involvement (PPI) lead for the School of Medicine. 

Research Interests

Jaimie is a Sociologist and applied healthcare researcher. 

With extensive expereince of working in interdisciplinary teams, Jaimie brings a sociological focus and qualitative expertise to research. Her research interests include social connectedness and personal social networks, and the role of these in the support of health, wellbeing and self-management. Jaimie also has an interest in implementation with a particular focus on implementing health interventions within community and voluntary settings. She also has an interest in tackling complex problems such a loneliness and social isolation. 

Jaimie has also previously led the process evaluation work pages across two large RCTs. PALS (NIHR funded) was a national RCT taking place in the community addressing loneliness and social isolation. Magnet4Europe (EU Horizon 2020 funded) was a consortium of 6 European countries and the USA working to improve mental health and wellbeing in the healthcare workplace. 

Jaimie is committed to working collaboratively across interdisciplinary teams that bring different perspectives and methods together to explore biopsychosocial factors impacting on health and wellbeing.
