Personal profile

Biography

Gillian is an artist, researcher, filmmaker & design activist with specialist knowledge in textiles, sustainable design and a track record of connecting and engaging with communities in formal and informal settings. In 2017 she founded ReMode, a community interest company based in Scotland, and held the role of Creative Director until 2024 when she left the post to pursue further study. She remains an active member of the Board of Directors.

Her Mres research project 'Clouture' was essentially a series of explorative hands-on workshops across two sites on the isle of Tiree and in the town of Paisley in Scotland.

Her interests lie in the intersection of futural imaginings for material resources and the potential agency of social movements and communities to conjure a collective empathy for the planetary resources required for human dress, bodily protection and portable shelter.
