Biography

Fiona McMahon is a Lecturer in Advertising, Marketing and Digital Media Communication at Ulster University. She has ten years experience working in advertising and marketing from both a client and agency perspective. Her research interests include social media marketing, online advertising, e-marketing and e-business adoption, with particular interest in how small firms can optimise their internet use to create competitive advantage.  Fiona developed the Postgraduate Programme in Digital Media Communication, alongside academic colleagues from both the Communication and Computing and Mathematics disciplines, and industry partners. She has been Director of this successful course for six years. She has worked on e-marketing consultancy projects with small firms, and was Director of Academic Enterprise for the Faculty of Social Sciences from 2015-2016.  Fiona holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Higher Education Practice, studied Social Media Strategy at Babson College, Boston, has an MSc with distinction in Industrial Practice and an NVQ level 5 in Management and Leadership from the Chartered Institute of Management.
