Biography

Favour Uzoma Mba is a Lecturer in Operations and Supply Chain Management at Ulster University and Programme Director for Global Business at the Derry~Londonderry campus. In this role, she provides academic leadership for programme delivery, curriculum development, student experience, and quality assurance across the options within the Business Studies Programme.

She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She holds a PhD examining how public procurement can be leveraged to create social value, informed by qualitative research with public sector leaders and suppliers. Her work sits at the intersection of procurement, operations and responsible business practice.

She brings strong applied insight to her teaching and research through consultancy and collaborative work with SMEs, charities, and international organisations, supporting market entry, impact measurement, and evidence-based decision-making.

PhD Researcher Profile

Favour holds a PhD titled Social Value and Procurement Phases: A study of Municipal Procurement in London Boroughs. Her doctoral research examined how social value is defined, interpreted, embedded and sustained across the different phases of the public procurement process within the municipal context.

Using qualitative research with municipal procurement professionals and suppliers, the study explored issues of continuity, governance, and practice in delivering social value priorities. The research contributes to understanding how procurement process and institutional arrangements shape the diffusion and translation of social value policy into operational outcomes.
